Set within the ice cathedral of Kline River Canyon, Release was created beside a river bluer than any pigment could invent—an outflow cutting through frost, stone, and silence. The portrait was built with chalk and charcoal on the canyon’s frozen surfaces, where the landscape itself suggested the composition: stillness in the face, motion in the water. The river becomes hair, a living element threaded through the figure—carrying the eye downstream and turning the work into a dialogue between holding and letting go. Release is an offering of cleansing and renewal of the mind: a reminder that what weighs on us is not always removed by changing our circumstances, but by learning to surrender what we’ve been gripping. By the next morning, snow and overflow sealed the portrait beneath refrozen ice—visible only as a memory under the surface.
Each print is a limited edition (excluding A4) and is hand-signed, numbered, and marked with David’s fingerprint for authentication. All A3 prints and larger include a signed Certificate of Authenticity. For the first time ever, A3 sizes and above also feature an embedded NFC chip — allowing you to scan the print and access the full story through a digital certificate. Printed on thick, 100% cotton rag fine art paper with a natural white tone and subtle semi-rough texture, each piece carries the timeless presence of a classical drawing — with rich depth and tonal realism.
Each work is hand-signed by the artist and marked with his fingerprint using custom archival pigment ink. Every print is individually numbered and includes a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
The only open edition is the A4 size.
